Here's How I use my IFPO Gold Press Credentials:
Each year in January I cover the Miss America contest in Las Vegas. I
spend several days with the girls to get to know them behind the scenes
as well as the final night spectacular. After the national televised event
I go into the press room with all the other former Miss America's and wait
for the"new" Miss America to be introduced to us as the press.
That's our chance to interview her with questions to find out her feelings
and emotions.
Each February in Las Vegas I cover Auto Races on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday. This is great fun along with learning lots about behind the scenes
and inside the garages and pits. It is so amazing to learn about the duties
of all the crew members and to hear them explain what goes on. I've been
covering Auto Racing for five years.
Each March and April I cover Major League Baseball spring training. I'm
usually in Vegas covering this as well. Ever since 1988 I've been involved
as a photographer and have covered 24 of the 30 teams in the Major Leagues.
It's been a super neat experience to be involved with professional managers
and players and to hear their stories throughout the years.
Those are pretty much standard experiences over each year. I have photographed
NFL games with the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings. This October I'm
hoping to receive another pass to photograph the New Orleans Saints and
Arizona Cardinals. This is why I'm renewing my Gold Press Program - to have
the credentials and to be accepted again. After you do this a few times
and the prominent press people know who you are and who you represent they
no longer ask questions. Going to the Arizona Cardinal venue will be a new
place where I'll be trying to gain recognition.
