Prior to 1987, when IFPO Press photographers broke the barriers to cover press events, freelancers were not recognized as members of the press. Since 1987 IFPO members have covered world class events ranging from US Presidential Inaugurations, Formula I Racing, Iron Man Championships, Fashion Shows in New York, Milan and Paris plus thousands more lesser events.

Other membership organizations charge annual dues. IFPO membership is a one-time fee, which provides access to all other IFPO programs and services. If you’re interested in press credentials or other services, you pay when you enroll in such programs or services.
WORLDWIDE EXPOSURE AND UNIVERSAL ACCEPTANCE
International divisions and affiliates of IFPO have been organized to better serve large groups of photographers who are concentrated in specific locales around the world. Divisions are operating in Chile, Thailand, India, Denmark, Japan, and Puerto Rico.
